The innocence of youth...

At 6 being subjected to wearing a bin bag, masquerading as a Christmas tree.

At age 7 please note the denim on denim look and the tasteful sun hat (taken at the elephant enclosure at Perth Zoo).

At school dressed as a cow girl, not sure why!

In my 1st Communion dress made by my mum.

My 9th Birthday a 'Witches and Wizards' party, this was before Harry Potter!

At 12 back stage in a High School production of 'Mame' ( Don't worry, it is a fake cigarette!).

I recently went to a 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' party. It made me think about what I was wearing in the 90's. I couldn't remember, well I was in primary school for most of it! So I dug up some old photo's and to my surprise discovered I was a bit of a poser then too! So for shits and giggles I've decided to show a few of my memorable fashion moments from the 90's.

Lost in paradise...

It has finally stopped raining. Over the last couple of days I have been itching to go out and take some photo's. This park is about 5 minutes from my home and has so many fabulous locations to take pictures. This is just a small sample of the photo's I took, luckily there weren't too many people around. I could have been there all day if the mosquitoes hadn't been so bad.

Outfit: Alice McCall dress from Billy & Rose, Fremantle, Picnic top, Country Road shoes.

Beauty note: Lipstick by Estee Lauder and Perfume Romance by Ralph Lauren.

Hat Affair Loves...Douglas & Hope

Douglas & Hope is a gorgeous store on Brunswick St, Fitzroy, Melbourne. It stocks an array of exquisite pieces. I loved the signature blankets and the quirky home wares.

Unfortunately Douglas & Hope is closing down. After so many years the owners have decided to only sell their products whole sale. This means you only have a short time to stop in and absorb the charm and ambiance of this beautiful store.

There is a closing down sale on some products so don't miss out!x

Hat Affair Loves... Blackwall

Ever been guilty of walking past a store and not bothering to look inside? Well I have and now I'm kicking myself, because I've been missing out on one of the coolest stores in Perth.

Blackwall is "more than a shop, ...(it) is a lifestyle, a dedication to the designers out there who allow us to express ourselves through our clothes…" (Blackwall Blog)

Blackwall stocks only the best including: Ksubi, Ksubi Eyewear Vanishing Elephant, Romance was Born, Shakuhachi, Insight, Something Else, Oneteaspoon, Ginger and Smart, Maurie and Eve, Bec and Bridge, Flint, and more.

"No more flying over east to pick up those pieces you only see in the mags… We are bringing the fashion to the people." (Blackwall Blog)

You can find Blackwall at Shop 1/30 Jarrad St Cottesloe.

Hat Affair loves...Montage Pop-up Store

For the whole month of July William St will be graced by the presence of the Montage Pop-up Store.

Stocking local labels Osmosis, lorgie&me and tall rabbit to name a few.

This store is a jewel and I wish it was there all the time. Sadly this is not to be. With only 9 days to go, you will have to get in quick!

Hat Affair loves...Fenella Peacock

Last week I finally went and had a look at Nells on Glyde St, Mosman Park, Perth Australia. I instantly fell in love! I was like a kid in a candy shop so many choices, so little time! There is a knit I particularly regret not picking up, hmm, I will have to make another visit.

Nells is the flagship store for Perth designer Fenella Peacock. Originally one half of the celebrated label Antipodium, her self titled label is full of soft, beautifully draped, unique and very wearable pieces. Fenella also uses texture with great aplom. But don't just take my word for it... Check it out for your self!

Hat Affair Loves... Made on the Left...Part 2

Made on the Left certainly didn't disappoint this month. As usual it had a great selection stalls with local artists and designers selling clothing, jewellery, accessories, art, home wares and so much more.

A few of the stand outs were White Square (I am a White Square addict. Every time I see this cute jewellery label I just have to snap up a piece.); Milliner Jessica Frankenstein and her quirky one of kind creations; and Graphic Designer M. Montgomery's cheeky prints.

Unfortunately the lighting was not very good for taking photo's, so you will have to be satisfied with my collection of White Square brooches, an M. Montgomery print and some Millinery styling from Jessica Frankenstein.

Hat Affair Loves...Red Threads

If you have been to the Bindaring Clothing sale in the past and you haven't been to the new Red Threads store in Fremantle, then your missing out. This is no ordinary charity shop. This is the creme de la creme of the pre-loved and vintage clothing world. Each piece has been hand picked for quality and style, so only the best is on offer.

Red Threads has a new promotion on, buy any bag for $30 or more and get a garment free (selected garments only). I am a volunteer at Red Threads and I put together the window display for the promotion, as pictured above. (I just couldn't resist playing around with it on Photoshop.)

Red Threads is located on Market St, Fremantle next to Home Provadore.

Hat Affair loves...Harry Wragg

Harry Wragg is a one of a kind vintage shop (well two, if you count both stores!). It was like stepping into vintage heaven. The best thing was they were having a sale, everything was $20! (Well I was traveling, so money was tight!) While I was there I picked up the gorgeous shirt featured on the post 'Girl Friday'.

It was the sort of place that you could happily wile the hours away looking for that one of a kind vintage find. I highly recommend that you take the time to drop in and have a look on your next visit to Melbourne.

You can find Harry Wragg at 201 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne and Shop 7/8 Cathedral Arcade, 37 Swanson Street, Melbourne.

Hat Affair Loves... Uscari

Australian label Uscari designed by fellow blogger Krystel Davis, grew up surrounded by a family of fashion entrepreneurs.

With that early fashion education is it any wonder that her designs are cutting edge and ooze a raw kind of sexiness.

Her latest collection 'Wild at Heart' (as shown above) includes dresses with the name's 'a million miles away' and 'the silent victory'. Lending themselves to the bondage feel of this collection. With the likes of Alexander McQueen going down the bondage path, it is clear that Krystel knows what she is doing. I predict great things for this label. So watch this space...

Uscari is available through their website, various online stores and their flagship store in Pitt Street Mall, Sydney.

Winter is calling...

It's quite cold today, while typing this my fingers are turning blue (my house is not made for the cold weather, it's 12 degrees Celsius inside!). Because of this I'm wearing not one, but two pairs of tights with boots and my rabbit fur scarf.

I'm on my way to Made on the Left markets. You had better head to the city now, or you'll miss out! x

Outfit: Velvet Jacket Vintage Calvin Klein design Circe 1970's, from my mums wardrobe; Raer scarf worn as brooch from Department, Mt Lawley; rabbit fur scarf from Perri Cutten, Claremont; Skirt from Gorman Surpise, Melbourne; ring from Atlas Divine, Leederville and black leather boots from Zomp, Claremont.

Hat Affair Loves...Viktoria + Woods

I recently discovered this Australian label online, only to find they have been around since 2003! Where have you been all my life? Bursting with eye popping colour, with gorgeous knitwear to boot, I am also pleased to note that most of their collection is made in Australia.

I am officially a Viktoria + Woods convert. x

Take a walk with me down... Brunswick Street

Brunswick Street is the haunt of Melbourne's vintage lovers and art crowd. Unfortunately I hadn't figured on the public holiday. Some of the stores were open and those that weren't, well I still took pic's of the windows, so you'll just have to venture inside for yourself.

For Western Australian's Brunswick St is where you'll find the Melbourne 'Little Creatures'. It's not as good as the original Fremantle Brewery/Restaurant, for a start there are no Beer vats to look at in the next room (well I am bias). However if you are feeling home sick for Fremantle, then step through those doors and have a drink of a beer that only the West could create! While I was there, I simply had to take a photo of the amazing light fittings made out of empty beer bottles. I wonder, do they come in green?

Photos: I just had to take a picture of the laundrette sign, with a film by the same name 'My beautiful laundrette' it was just too good to pass up!
