Beauford Street Festival...

In November 2010 I walked down Beaufort St surrounded by wool. Now this may seem like a strange statement, but no more stranger than the experience, there was literally knitting everywhere! On trees, benches, walls, signs, in stores and there were even people knitting in the laneways.

A menagerie of music, art and fashion, everywhere you looked there was something new and bizarre to discover. Why don't you come and have a walk with me?

Perth Marketplaces...2011

For all you vintage lovers out there if you haven't heard, the Leederville Markets are back! They are on every Saturday from 9 till 4 on the corner of Oxford Street and Leederville Parade.

Once you've finished finding those vintage bargins, why not go to 'The Garden' next to the Leederville Hotel for a cold drink and lunch. (I was there the other night and it is still fabulous one year after opening. Very chilled with a great atmosphere.)

Turn the page...2011

You would probably remember me blogging about 'Hats: An Anthology' at the beginning of 2010. Well if you were one of the unlucky ones that missed out (like myself), you still have a chance to see this wonderful collection in print if not in person.

I was very excited to receive an autographed copy for Christmas. It is a beautiful collection of hats of all shapes and sizes. My only disappointment was the lack of a photograph of the fabled Schiaparelli Shoe Hat. Sadly there was only the illustration that has featured in many other fashion books. Hopefully in the second edition we may get a glimpse of this strange and wonderful creation.

It is available to purchase from the V&A and the Queensland Art Gallery online bookstores.

What a Year!

I've had a well deserved holiday, however I have not been sitting on my hands. In the last few months I have been to parades, markets, festivals, fairs and kept busy creating new masterpieces to add to my collection. Not to mention those hat boxes I've been meaning to cover. (Which I think have turned out rather well!)

It is truly Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, my first day at the beach was New Years Day, it was wonderful. With my wide brimmed One Teaspoon Hat with scarf I thought I looked very Audrey Hepburn, but probably looked like a melted Ice cream topped with chocolate sauce.
