Through the looking glass...

These vintage magazines are filled with all you need to know about being a woman in 1932 and 1942. In ten years it is remarkable to note the difference in the advertising, the use of colour and the quality of the paper. The war time receipies are also very err, different! There is also an ad in the 1942 issue for the recently released Walt Disney Film 'Bambi', who knew Bambi was that old.

The short stories are also quite interesting one title reads in the 1942 issue "Until the Day Break: She would do Anything to save the Land, and the Paris she loved"

Blue baby...

I know this isn't exactly a hat but you have to admit it's cute! I made this bow using a long strip of navy stretch satin. First I wrapped a headband with black grograin ribbon and then I stitched the bow to it. It makes me think of Alice in Wonderland! When I wear it I always have a smile on my face. Don't you think it's the little things that make all the difference! x

Before I was a hat blogger I was a fashion student at Polytechnic West (Formerly Swan TAFE, Bentley). This was my collection for my graduate show in 2005. The elaborate dress with the exaggerated hips was my couture gown. I carved the hips out of foam so they fitted perfectly to the models body. On the catwalk there was a scary moment when the heel of her shoe got caught in the tulle, but luckly she managed to steady herself!

You will notice that my first cloche hat is on one of the models, it didn't sit quite right because her hair was in a bun, ahh well not everything will go right on the night! Love Lucy x
